I’m so angry this morning, I am going to do my first thread in support of @MarcusRashford
A child being hungry on a regular basis is more than the feeling of having a hunger pain. As well as being more likely to be physically ill, they are also more likely to suffer emotionally.
A child at risk of hunger will struggle to reach their full potential & it will negatively impact on their development and behaviour. Hunger has a longer lasting impact than many could ever imagine.
The poverty cycle is real. It’s inter-generational and part of many family scrips across our country. It’s near impossible to change and break the cycle. it won’t change until society does something different, something better.
I’ve met plenty of parents who fight everyday to make sure they feed their children but it’s a battle, a pressure beyond what some can imagine. What a horrific feeling it must be to worry about whether you can feed children everyday. Take a minute to step in to those shoes.
These people are inspiring, they aren’t freeloaders of the state, they are a product of what the state reinforces with their legislation & policies.
When you have the experience of handing over food bank vouchers to desperate parents you often see the relief but also the embarrassment. They don’t come and ask for support because they enjoy it, they do it for their children.
If your government won’t work alongside families to make sure we don’t have hungry kids, then those of us who can help just a little, let’s do so.

Taking away hunger means more to a family than having a full belly. It’s life changing.
Good luck @MarcusRashford you have our full support
