No excuses: we are part of a racist society, and that influences our actions and relationships.
Alana & I try to fight against the racism that's inside us. We don't always succeed. I'm so sorry for giving ammunition to anyone who denies that our society is deeply racist.
Black Lives Matter and we must fight against the public health disasters of racist state/police violence, healthcare inequity, and systemic racism of all kinds.
It's not racist to call out racism and shady behavior when you see it or when something doesn't smell right. We are called out and we can and will do better.
Of course we were trying to make a big move. At that point, it made sense to us based on K+L being seen as a huge threat and relationships we'd formed with the blondes. BUT
We'd gotten super close to the blondes why? In part bc that's how racism works. You accidentally feel closer, more kinship, to someone who looks like you, you take actions to get closer to them, and you end up helping them out more when they really need it.
And so no one is wrong to call us out, because white people systematically helping white people out is a real problem that keeps racist oppression going strong.
These are important issues that are worth our time and energy.

Black Lives Matter.
