I am an enthusiastic YES on the region's transportation measure. It is bold and ambitious with foward thinking climate programs like youth pass and bus electrification. But at its core, this measure is the first step on making good on the neglect of the past. (1/x)
Roads we use to get across town have been poorly maintained as farm to market streets, not the neighborhood centers that they are. This measure will fix that. Safe crossings, street lights, new pavement + safety features, smart bus signals, infrastructure for more transit (2/x)
All this with an overlay of housing and business stabilization funds so that those communities that look forward to these investments can still be there to reap the glory of safer streets and new connections. (3/x)
As we face crisis on top of crisis in our society, I dont have a crystal ball. But whatever we face investing in ourselves with good jobs and community assets will put us ahead. This measure has a price tag, but one paid largely by mid to large businesses. (4/x)
