Interesting that the "free Tibet" crowd never talked about this history. Before 1959, Tibetan society was sooo dark 95% of Tibetans were serfs, they were born with lifelong debts, they were chained & slaved by nobles, feudal officials, and priests ... history of #Tibet. Thread:

Serfs were exploited & must work for slaveowners. They were never treated as humans. A whole-day work would receive a stamp as reward; If they can't pay tax, they got their arms chopped off. If they made any mistake, they got beaten up, their eyes taken out, their skin peeled off

Nowadays, Tibetan live a stable life. They r treated as equals. Their culture & religion are being promoted. Tibet was lifted out of extreme poverty. Yet anti-China groups say they should "free" Tibet. They are the ones wanting to deprive Tibetans of their freedom & human rights.
