This is what neoliberalism actually is. A CVS-branded boot stamping on a wheezing human face, forever. It's not pink fighter jets, it's not gay anti-homeless architecture.

It's when "companies [are] synonymous with communities" https://twitter.com/annehelen/status/1318998562382827520
Neoliberalism is when a country has been so hollowed out, so eviscerated of its commons, its civil society, its government, its mutual obligation, its solidarity, that when facing down the deadliest threat since WWII it responds with Target parking lots.
You might not be able to get a test, or a doctor, or treatment. You might not get economic support. You might not get protective equipment, contact tracers, or coherent guidance from the government.

But don't worry--you'll be able to get Gatorade.

That's neoliberalism
The truth is, neoliberalism isn't fucking woke. It's not anti-woke either. It doesn't fucking care. Cancel or don't cancel, teach Critical Race Theory or not, paint your park benches with rainbow or trans or Confederate flags for all they care.

It's about killing public life
This? This isn't neoliberalism. This is cultural window-dressing. Neoliberalism can assimilate it, its opposite, or neither.
This is neoliberalism
this is neoliberalism
this is neoliberalism
this is neoliberalism
If you think neoliberalism is Amazon cynically posting Black Lives Matter on Instagram, you've been duped nearly as much as the person who thinks it's sincere.

News Corporation peddles right-wing insanity, Twitter makes hashtag pics for social justice. Both are neoliberal
Why? Both represent the degradation of the public into the private. Instead of a commons, we have Twitter. The enclosed social world, wholly owned and operated by private actors. We have Facebook.

Instead of common worldviews we have Fox News or MSNBC
We just keep getting segmented and marketed-to and cut apart. Isolated, prey animals pulled off from the strength and safety of the herd, one by one.

Some market to us with "social justice" some with fighter-jet flyovers. Doesn't matter.
If you think neoliberalism is only *one* of those things, you aren't ready to face it down, and you aren't going to mount an effective resistance to it.

You're gonna get duped like these workers. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But you will.
