I DID IT FUCKING JSJSJS
okay listen i was having a crisis trying to figure out how to pronounce mikasa listen im bout to make a thread on what i think
okay first things first i really want to bring home the idea of what this person said like take my info with a grain of salt i am not fluent in japanese nor am i the author (who has overall authority over the pronunciation of her name) this all all just what i think to help me!
okay so i really think it all comes down to pronunciation which like fuck that bitch we hate her but we gotta live with her, smh anyway so from hearing it on the anime and the way japanese google translate said it i’d say the pronunciation of her name is closer to “mi casa” than-
“mee-kuh-suh” (and i’m using the sub as reference because even tho they pronounce some of the other names kinda wrong, take eren for example, most the names in snk are german based where as mikasa isn’t bc shes half Japanese and again it’s all accent!!)
white people/americans can go ahead and say either pronunciation cuz, idk why y’all stress vowels so hard but, really it be a mixture of both. Anyway taking the route of “mi casa” being closer, i, a hispanic, was like well hmm what the difference between how we say “my house”-
and how they say “Mikasa” so i listened back and if you really do need to stress something i’d say stress the “sa” and try not to stress the “ka” cuz this one person said that for the most part the each syllable is short except for the last one where “sa” is stressed but pretty-
much still short. and another dude said that there is no stress in any of the syllables per say so i truly think (at least for me) stressing the last syllable would be closest to the pronunciation. In spanish we, again don’t really stress anything but if i had to stress something
it’d be the “ca” in “mi casa” you can kinda just hear the difference in stress when you listen to “mi casa” and “mikasa” spoken natively. so to sum up my thesis on how to pronounce Mikasa’s name:
1. it really doesn’t fuckin matter say “mi casa” or “mee-kuh-suh” if u like as long as it’s not “mih-kay-sah” or sum stupid shit, it’s all just accent
2. mikasa is pronounced pretty evenly through each syllable (maybe with a slight stress at the end)
3. mi casa has a slight stress on the “ca” so saying “mikasa” while trying ti focus the stress on “sa” is the closest you can get.
all in all 😼😼😼 don’t read this thread this is stupid 🗿🗿🗿
