Legit question: Is it okay for the federal gov't to discriminate against homeless seniors? If you are receiving OAS and need to call CRA to change your address for example, they(CRA) ask for your previous two addresses, or a letter that they mailed to your previous address...
But what if your previous address was many years ago? Or a shelter where they return any mail of folks who aren't currently residing there? Their proposed workaround is your bank account number, or the amount of the last GST cheque they mailed ...

then you aren't in the best frame of mind. It is such a pain for me as a supporter, I can't imagine what its like to be a sleepy and wet septuagenarian in the public library calling some 1-800 number just so he can do his taxes so he can start receiving GST again. ...
So, seriously, is this not discrimination of some sort? Personally, I have no issues verifying my identity. I have had a pretty stable life the last few years and I do my taxes religiously. But for so many people who are unhoused, it is very difficult to answer questions ..
like these, so they just end up going without the services that are rightfully theirs. CPP/OAS/GIS is an amazing system, but gaps like these need to be addressed or else we are failing those who are most in need. Whats the workaround for folks without addresses?...
The people who answer the phones are generally great, but constrained by policy. Please lets change the policy! PS, If I have to wait on hold anymore I am gonna invoice @ServiceCanada_E for the hours I waste listening to that hold music. @AndyFillmoreHFX @JustinTrudeau
