I know you think you look hot in all that ethnic beaded woven feathered stuff, but self-indigenizing is not the same as decolonizing.

If you really want to help/empower struggling Indigenous communities, you can do it without making a claim on or drawing energy from the identities/cultures they are trying to maintain. Ask them what they need, then help them achieve that, instead of imposing your own ideas.

If you are really seeking your own decolonization, know that it's not a diasporic free-for-all smorgasbord. Find out who your own people really were/are, acknowledge your actual ancestors, and accept your own unique heritage, warts and all, and make peace with it.
