So I've been seeing "what can I do" a lot from folks who want to know how they can help Nigeria from outside the country. There's several ways right now in which you can assist in this movement, a thread:
1. Amplification. Nigerians hate shame, literally more than anything else. The elevation of this movement to a global scale and throwing Nigeria's leaders in the hot seat is exactly what's needed. RTing and posting may feel minute but believe me it makes a world of difference.
2. Donate. @feminist_co has been instrumental on the ground in Nigeria coordinating donations by way of Bitcoin. They've used funds for everything from replace damaged vehicles to first aid for protestors. Check them out here and in my bio https://donatebtc.feministcoalition2020.com/
3. Research. @petahjay_ in particular has been pushing out some incredible easy to follow graphics with summaries of not only the damage SARS has done in Nigeria but the corruption and destruction that the Nigerian government has caused. Check them out!
4. Participate. There are protests going on in almost every major city in the world right now. @endsarsdmv and @endsarsnyc have been promoting and posting protests going on all over the diaspora and there is an incredibly user friendly diaspora website https://endsarsdiaspora.disha.page/
5. Use your voice. Besides speaking, write/call your local Representative, Senator, etc. and tell them to put pressure on the Nigerian gov't to answer to these egregious acts. Things like visa bans that will not only affect them but their families will force their hand.
