Things that can all be true at same time re: Purdue:
1. They were/are incredibly nefarious & terrible.
2. The singular focus on Rx/pharma as cause of OD crisis is misguided.
3. People w/chronic pain continue to be harmed by lack of access.
4. The $ will likely be misused.

If this is seen as the penultimate “win” in terms of pound of flesh it lets all other bad actors off the hook. If $ goes into same failed systems, nothing is gained.

Safe supply, safer consumption, harm reduction expansion, housing, effective evidence-based treatment, patient-centered care incl. prescribed opioids, etc are where resources should go. All this to say, the pessimist in me expects more of the same inadequate/failed approaches.
