So, as some people saw today, this is the last day of my career as an academic physicist. Next week I will start an awesome new job as a data scientist, and I have to say I'm pretty excited for that.

I would like to cast myself back through time and look at my journey though!
I had a bit of an odd undergraduate for a Physicist, since I studied Nanotechnology. It was a great time though, I made some friends for life and was taught buy some amazing people (h/t @MarkIOgden)
I also got very involved in student social life through the Physics Society, and that utterly revolutionised my personality if I'm honest. It completely took me out of my shell and helped me grow as a person.
I got very hooked on Physics thanks to my 3rd year E&M lecturer, who went on to supervise my honours year and my PhD. I had a lot of really amazing opportunities to meet other grad students from around the world, and I learned a lot about myself too.
The PhD process for me, was a really wild and thrilling adventure. I ended up on the other side of the country (Australia is a BIG country, okay) where I made a whole new set of amazing friends, faced a tonne of different challenges, and (mostly) overcame them.
I was extremely lucky to end up spending most of my postdoc years in @OxfordPhysics and @isisneutronmuon, meeting and working with a tonne of amazing people. I also got to meet a tonne of amazing people outside of work from all over the world.
Oxford also allowed me to make a whole other group of friends, and also meet this foolish man who decided (shortly after telling me he couldnt possibly date anyone) that actually he would love to date me and we have been together the ensuing 8 years almost to the day.
So for now Im moving from the S to the T in STEMM, but this just means fewer tweets about physics and more tweets about machine learning, probably.
