Education MPs who voted 'NO' to feeding children living in #poverty, during a global 🌍 pandemic.

@GavinWilliamson - Our leader...
@NickGibbUK - School Standards
@michelledonelan - Universities
@GillianKeegan - Apprenticeships
@vickyford - Children's Minister!

#FreeSchoolMeals
N.b. Baroness Berridge (no vote) - Safeguarding.
I'll never forget when @ShaunDellenty shared his story with me. He posed the most pertinent question in my work across education.

"Do you believe in ALL children succeeding or just some?"

This is an example of SOME people believing in just SOME pupils doing well in life...
Wonderful to hear @annelongfield support #FreeSchoolMeals on #bbcqt...

It's 2020!

Some families do not, or lose the resources they need, to feed their own children. Sometimes this isn't their fault.

@NickyMorgan01 looking sheepish...
Absolutely loving @MarcusRashford's Twitter feed right now. Signposting all the amazing offers from food outlets offering food to vulnerable students.

I'm predicting another government U-turn...

When @StaufenbergJ interviewed @vickyford one could see the writing on the wall.

Right now I need schools to be focusing on school being normal... for the dining room to be open when the school is open.

That's a 'NO' to feeding children during a pandemic.

I am not convinced giving disadvantaged pupils #FreeSchoolMeals vouchers for 3 weeks to get through the Winter is a "sticking plaster" @michelledonelan.

This isn't politics, Michelle

It's simply the right thing to do at this time.

I'm still gobsmacked that politicians have decided not to provide #FreeSchoolMeals to disadvantaged pupils during a pandemic.

Conservative MPs have had a decade to resolve #HolidayHunger, and this latest decision is no coincidence. https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1320629926777753600
A new research paper analysing Conservative education policies: Attainment by age 19 (2019b) shows that the increase since 2015 in the proportion of young people not
achieving Level 2 is principally due to a worsening situation for young people eligible for #FreeSchoolMeals
Extending #FreeSchoolMeals support through the Christmas and February half-term holidays – would add only a small amount to the total bill for #COVID19 support.

The government are clearly being stubborn.

"Social justice has been at the heart of every decision this compassionate Conservative Government have made..." says @theresecoffey in parliament 09.11.2020

Coffey also voted 'No' a couple of weeks ago.
