RANT AHEAD
I just got a text from @LaurenUnderwood's campaign. It was ALMOST the standard "can you give us some money" text, except it indicated that her opponent (who I swear has run in every election since I moved here) gave his campaign $2M of his own money.

I don't begrudge people financial success. If making an boatload of money was your goal and you did it, then good for you. But how do you run as a person who understands what's happening to average people? How do you brand a person from a regular family as out of touch?

Additionally, his primary critique of @LaurenUnderwood is that she's never created a job. She's a nurse. They generally don't. MOST of us don't. If you're an employee, how do you vote for someone who views you as less than, simply because you're not the owner of a company?

How is his voice worth ANY more to anyone because he decided to sell us all overpriced milk and cheese? I'd argue that his perspective gets heard regardless of holding office. But the perspective of workers only really gets considered when one of us is elected.

And let's not kid ourselves. That ad is blatantly racist. It's designed to scare rural white people. My suburb had SEVERAL protests over the summer and they WERE beautiful. People came together to say we've had enough of our Black people being treated this way.

Oberweis feels entitled to a seat because he's a rich white man. Look at how many times he's run. Look at how many positions he's run for. This is a man whose ego needs to be fed. Sound familiar?

And just like Trump, he does not give a FIG about anyone in the #IL14.

Still with me? You're awesome. So I'm going to make a plea that you donate to @LaurenUnderwood. She has done SO MUCH as a freshman congresswoman. And she understands and cares about her constituents. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/lufc_web_october2020?button
