A few observations on #cdnpoli today (for those paying attention to the shenanigans in the Ottawa bubble)...

Re: establishment of a Special Committee to look into allegations of misuse of public funds by the federal government:.. (1/5) #VanGran https://twitter.com/hocchamber/status/1319014135728930818
The choice this Gov’t placed before us—a potential election during a spiking pandemic or seeking to avoid transparency/accountability for ethical wrongdoings demonstrates an utter lack of leadership. Imagine risking the health of Cdns to avoid taking responsibility. Shameful. 2/5
This entire episode illustrates why we need real reform of Parliament—so MPs vote their consciences, out of what is in the best interests of Cdns, & not following party lines based on the false choice between ethical governance & an unwanted, untimely, & dangerous election. (3/5)
Absolutely, there should be no election during a spiking pandemic. Canadians do not want an election now—I have not heard from one #VanGran constituent who does. Accordingly, I voted against today’s motion not b/c I disagree w/ its content but b/c it was a confidence vote. (4/5)
To be clear, I support full investigations into the unethical actions of this government. I know there is more to be uncovered—regarding last year’s scandals and this years. I will work with this minority Parliament to try to move proper oversight and accountability forward.(5/5)
