By the way for the folks who do message me about wanting to join a dice game. I'm not in a position to help much with that [I'm currently balancing 18 players across 3 games... so ye. zero interest on adding to my plate.]

Finding a group as a new player can be one of the more -
- difficult parts. The easiest way of getting involved is knowing someone who is willing to act as a gamemaster and expressing interest. There's plenty of us out there but most of us already have a committed group. These things can take months of collaborative story telling.
What I would honestly recommend is just asking around your friend group. Finding three or four people that are reliable enough to show up on an agreed time. The joke goes that the most neurotic or OCD person is the DM, but generally if someone amongst your circle is passionate -

You can learn a lot about how the game runs by watching actual play podcasts or video tutorials. But I do think jumping in is one of the quickest ways of learning.

And I will put myself out there as far as mutuals on either of my twitters go. If folks are interested in getting started as a DM, feel free to hit me up. I'm happy to provide pointers.
Rime of the frost maiden btw is an excellent starting point for new DMs who like cold.

It's not impossible. To name just a few recent DMs Shuri, Owwy, Chill, Astra, Dngls, Blunder, Robyn, Kea and Hemlock have all taken up the mantle and done fantastic jobs. With the exception of I think Shuri most of them were nervous af about it
Also a special note to Ribbonchu who went from never having played before to running 3 games in like a month which is so fucking absurd that I'm still flabbergasted about it .
Also I have 0 shame on the name drops for that one. They have all done real amazing work with their respective games and I am always excited to hear their and other DMs tales :3c
