i totally subscribe to the dan savage theory of “secret perving,” i.e. if you’re discreet enough that no non-consenting parties can catch on, you’re fine (e.g. wearing sexy underwear under your work clothes, having a remote controlled vibrator in while you go to the supermarket)

but the trick is YOU HAVE TO KEEP IT A SECRET! and in some scenarios, you’re just too likely to be busted (e.g. having sex in the elevator of a work building at 5pm, being an old person who’s bad at technology masturbating in front of your webcam-enabled device during a meeting)
