It's #PronounDay so let's talk a little bit about MEET CUTE DIARY, my pronouns, and the way I explored my own pronouns through my debut!

Meet Devin! When Devin first enters the book, e uses he/him pronouns. By the end, e switches to Spivak pronouns (like me!)

Throughout the course of the story, Devin explores a few different pronoun sets, including a couple of neo-pronouns.

Neo-pronouns refer to pronouns outside of the traditional three: she/her, he/him, and they/them. Devin's tried them all, but none of them quite fit!

It was really important for me to not only showcase a character switching pronouns throughout the course of a book, but to show that *anyone* can.

Devin once says e's worried anything e decides will be eir final form, but Noah assures em that's not true. E can change any time!

There's often this idea that pronouns equate to a certain gender and that transness is stagnant, and that just isn't the case.

Your pronouns are about how you choose to express yourself, & that can change any time. Your gender can change or you can change your mind. That's okay!

In the end, Devin feels restricted by the connotations surrounding other pronouns, so e uses neo-pronouns.

I personally found that "they/them" just didn't work for me for a lot of different reasons. I needed something I felt *I* could shape to fit the way I see myself.

And just like Devin, there are days when I don't mind certain other pronouns and there are times I wonder if I may want to change mine again.

And that option is open to me to do with as I deem fit. My pronouns are mine, and no one can determine them but me.

I won't go into any more detail so I don't spoil anything, and I can't wait for you all to get to know Devin for yourselves.

I hope e's someone y'all can see yourselves in, and I hope eir journey helps ease some of the burden on nonbinary teens.
