The above is what BP calls "processing" - children in one cage, men in another, women in a third - while they complete government paperwork. This can take days. Imagine seeing and hearing your child cry out for you, & being unable to comfort her, trapped in cages like animals.
This is also the scene where DOJ claimed to an appellate court that the provision of soap and dental supplies for the caged children was not legally required. The lawyers failed to tell the court that this scenario also fits well into its "child terror is the point" policy.
