men assume that woman aren't interested without ever talking to them. there's a VP in my office that never once spoke to me until i wore a dodgers jersey to work, and now we're friendly. it's a dumbass assumption that women are interested and it's often wrong.
not to make it a Whole Thing, but these stereotypes cause women to lose out on opportunities - especially in sports-related fields. it seems like a small thing but men in every field will engage with other men about sports even if they haven't obviously shown interest.
it's a way that male leaders get to know their coworkers, and if they are only bonding with the men in the office, guess who gets considered first for projects and promotions? the person they've talked to. it's shitty.
