Okay, time for a theory rant. 🙃

1/ #nursinged we need to stop telling students they need to “fit” a theoretical model to their research/practice.

All nurses are theorists, and as such, they have a right to develop their own theories and thinking.
2/ If we do not enable nurses to develop new ways of thinking (theory) our discipline will crash and burn.

Yes - we have historical knowledge that has helped get us their. But critiquing that, we need theories that are relevant to human beings today!
5/ All nurses are theorist and they have the knowledge, experience, and power to shed light on critical phenomena.

We need to stop putting theory development in an elitist category, and make it a normative practice - because it already is! We just don’t call it that.
6/ nurses in practice theorize everyday. They troubleshoot, innovate, and think about specific phenomena/how to solve whatever is at hand every shift. We just dont call that “theory” but it is.
