I'll be joining the Washoe County COVID-19 media briefing today at 11:30 and providing updates in this tweet thread.
As always, feel free to let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to get them answered.

In Nevada,

In Nevada,

Washoe County District Health Officer Kevin Dick says that, "unfortunately, it's not good news today" and then goes on to say that Washoe County is at "high risk" based on "high level of transmission" within the county which has a 8.6% testing positivity rate.
There are more than 1,500 active cases in the county, and Dick says, "we may be tired of Covid, but Covid is not tired of us" and advocates for constant vigilance.
As far as Halloween, Dia De Los Muertos, and Nevada Day, Dick recommends that people not go trick-or-treating and that a press release will be coming out with recommendations for people to celebrate *safely*.
Dick attributes rise in cases to people beginning to relax and go to larger gatherings, school openings, and disregard for public health authority guidelines.
Dick says that county has not tied any cases directly to the recent Trump rally, but it is still too early to tell.
County is not going to be approving larger gatherings than what's allowed by the Governor's directive (which permits crowds of up to 250 people) but Dick reminds people that private indoor gatherings are up to 10 people and outdoor gatherings are up to 25 people.
Dick says county has been "falling behind" with contact tracing given the high number of cases that are occurring.
Not much else to report, but Dick kept reiterating throughout the meeting that all individuals should wear masks and continue to follow health guidelines.
County meeting is over, but if you want more information from the state-level, check out @meganmesserly's Coronavirus in Nevada data page or check out the tweet linked at the beginning of this thread. https://thenevadaindependent.com/coronavirus-data-nevada
