why 5sos [i.e: cashton] should put their pronouns on their accounts (and you should too), a thread
1) "what& #39;s the reason for having your pronouns on your account?"
simple, it helps your mutuals know how to refer to you, especially for people who go by a nickname / a gender neutral name! it can also just make people feel more comfortable with what language to refer to you

2) "why is it so important though? people know how i identify?"
it also helps to normalise trans/nb people having their correct pronouns on their accounts, and makes them less likely to be singled out as trans if a random person looks at their account and decides to attack them.

3) "but why do celebrities, who are (for all we know) cis, have to do it?"
it& #39;s obvious that a fanbase will follow in the steps of their idols: if (for example) 5sos added their pronouns to their accounts and talked about it being important, there& #39;d be a whole wave of people —

— copying them and adding their pronouns as well. on top of that, it shows solidarity to trans/nb fans! for me personally, 5sos have been a huge comfort while i& #39;ve been going through things with my gender identity, and it& #39;d mean a lot to me / other lgbt fans if they showed that —
— respect and awareness for their fans :] plus, i know the vast majority of people here are cis (i.e: not trans), and that would also help spread awareness to them on how they can support and help their fellow fans who are lgbt
4) "but why is this thread so specifically about 5sos?"
as i detailed above, they& #39;re important to me, and you can see multiple examples of them being hugely vocal on lgbt issues these days, from calum& #39;s reddit ama post about pride flags at their shows, to their 2018 pride post —

— from this, anyone can see that they& #39;re obviously extremely supportive of the lgbt community, and it& #39;d be another step forwards if they were to make that adjustment and add their pronouns, to show yet more support for their fans.
plus, 5sos are a fairly large band in the scene, especially after some of their songs (specifically youngblood) got a lot of mainstream radio play. if they did it and set an example, it could only lead to more people following in their footsteps until eventually, it& #39;s the norm.
5) "but why do they NEED to do it? it& #39;s not that important"
it probably wouldn& #39;t be that significant to a lot of people, but to trans/non-binary fans like myself, it& #39;d mean the world and make us feel a lot more accepted and visible - plus, it& #39;s not really a massive thing to do?

(note: i wrote this a while ago and am now reposting it for ashton and calum when he& #39;s active again, so yes, luke and michael do have their pronouns in their locations! very poggers of them i think
