This time yesterday, 30 mins before 7:00pm. It started getting dark. Young people of Nigeria had gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate
They were singing the national anthem and waving their flags

We all started getting nervous as they shut the light and took down the cameras

We were all nervous and afraid. Deep down thinking. What’s the worst punishment for a missed curfew (the curfew that was later shifted meaning it doesn’t apply anymore)

We were thinking, come on, they won’t murder them. No they won’t

Some people began praying
#ENDSARS
What we all hoped and prayed against happened

They started opening live ammunition at young people singing the national anthem and waving their flags

It was like film trick
Like whattttttt
Are you kidding

Is this for real
People started calling ambulances. It felt like the longest night ever. People recording live streaming and we watched young people die real time

What was their sin?
They were peacefully protesting for an end to police brutality
#ENDSARS
The shootings didn’t stop. It continued into the night. They stood there singing the anthem and waving their flags

The ones who are supposed to protect us continued shooting at them

#ENDSARS
Everybody trying to process the massacre happening
People started tagging international community

People were taking videos

People were praying

People were creating awareness

But the bullets didn’t stop. They continued into the night. It felt like a movie with no end
#ENDSARS
Some the ambulances sent couldn’t gain access. We lost people. Some died on the spot. Some died slowly from their wound

Some hid away

Some hoped and prayed

This was the longest night ever
The Lekki Toll Gate Massacre
We will not forget
20/10/20

Rest In Peace to our fallen soldiers
