The History channel thing really does just highlight the way dog whistles are designed to work

It’s deniable. If he hadn’t been caught in the obvious lie about his dad then we’d never have been able to say for _certain_ whether they were really nazi tattoos
Obviously with it all taken together it becomes /extremely/ likely (and their background check should have caught that), but you can guarantee he has an “innocent” explanation for each and every one of his tattoos
There was a baker in Leeds who was outed as a neo-Nazi who had tattoos of offset plus symbols down his leg, except, oh no! The white space looks like swastikas! What an awful coincidence!
We know what’s going on here, the Nazis definitely know what it is, but as you have an explanation for it I imagine that most people will be very uncomfortable making that accusation, and so the dog whistles accomplish their goals
Plus there’s the added bonus that because some of these are so abstract you can deflect. Accuse people of having an overactive imagination or seeing nazis everywhere. You only have to look at how History went to bat for this guy before they deleted their tweets to see it worked
Anyway I don’t really have a point with this thread, nazis suck and it’s just chilling as fuck to see their methods in action like this
