Some more on physical media: I stopped buying CDs a long time ago, and I'm pretty sure a lot of songs I bought as files are lost on old hard drives. So I use Spotify. 1/
I *wish* Spotify paid artists better. Holy shit, do I wish.

But then...it would take a MASSIVE move, not just the consciences of not enough people, to make that change. 2/
The economics of the recorded music industry is shit anymore. I get it, but....well, me buying even ten CDs (or files) a year might make me feel better about paying artists, but this is a systemic thing.

BUt then Amazon used the technology of ebooks to shift the money towards the authors, esp. self-publishing (I can't call them "indies." We already use that word for something else).

I started buying Blu Rays again during the pandemic for the same reason I still buy print books - I'm fascinated with it as an object. The packaging, the art, the extra booklets inside.

Even though we pretty much have several "spotifys" for movies, I still buy BRs. 5/
And I don't use Kindle Unlimited, either. I buy Kindle books. Not sure why. And I still buy print books.

But good lord, what is it about the music side? It's not logical.
