I’m honestly shocked by the number of #evangelicalleaders who blithely maintain the moral equivalency of the @GOP and @DNC They do this by a) emphasizing that there are blind spots in both sides or b) pointing out “good things” in each group. This facile framing of the
choice can only be maintained if you ignore the actual platform of the @DNC and @JoeBiden Once you do, it becomes clear that their policies and governing philosophy is incompatible with anything approaching a Christian worldview. At best, they do what liberals and progressives
have always done: Borrow the language of the Kingdom as a Trojan horse for their own agenda. Of course, that happens on both sides of the aisle. It just happens to be the case that their agenda includes murdering babies, selling their body parts, chemically castrating
Pre-adolescent children in the name of trans-rights, dissolving the nuclear family, confiscating an enormous chunk of private property, removing the right to self-defense (even as they are surrounded with armed bodyguards), preventing parents from directing their kids’
educational destiny, subverting parental rights surrounding human sexuality (and a host of other issues), reducing freedom of religion from a fundamental affirmation that we can live out our faith to the idea that we are allowed to go to a religious meeting and shut our mouths
the rest of the time, basically outlawing Christians from working in large sectors of the public sphere through credentialing agencies that label the Christian worldview as hate speech and protecting this discrimination with language of “equal rights,”
subjecting American citizens to a global government, redistributing American wealth in service of everything listed above. So, I must admit, I’m stunned when I hear public figures smile and point us to Jesus and wave off the real choice before us in this election. I fear it does
a disservice to the church in America. Of course the Kingdom is bigger than politics. Of course, no political party is perfectly aligned with the Kingdom. Of course, we don’t vote to bring the Kingdom to earth. But, with all that said: The choices are not equivalent. A vote for
the platform of the @DNC and @JoeBiden is a vote for everything listed above. Institutions and ideas outlive personalities, however offensive we might find them. The overheated rhetoric about the danger of @POTUS is, by and large, a sideshow when compared to the issues at stake.
#platformsNOTpersonalities that is all for now. I love you all, no matter how you vote. I just hope you’ll be guided by the light of truth and not the heat of emotion.
