Most common misconceptions I see:
-the show will be a police procedural
-it won't be a Batman story
-it's just a filler series to satiate our appetite between films

NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE TRUE.
The main reason to be hyped for this show: Matt Reeves chose Terence FUCKING Winter to be the show runner.

Terence Winter is a LEGEND. His shows The Sopranos, and Boardwalk Empire are incredibly cinematic and focus on realistic and complex, tales of corruption and crime.
Terence Winter does NOT make police procedurals. He makes gripping crime dramas with incredible style. Here are some stills from The Sopranos & Boardwalk Empire that really resonate with Matt Reeves aesthetic for #TheBatman universe.
This series is a prequel to #TheBatman, but it is not taking place before Batman. This series is set DURING his Year One. This is a Year One story, and even though it isn't from Bruce Wayne's perspective, his actions during Year One will absolutely play into the story.
Making Batman's Year One story from the perspective of the police who have to contend with him, is a brilliant way to build up his status as an urban legend. We only see of him what the police see and so he becomes an alluring mystery for us and for the protagonists to understand
If you have any other hesitations about this show, or just wanna share in the excitement, I love responding to people's comments. Thanks for reading :)
