On a day when 31 deaths are reported in 20 counties, Iowa also reports 534 hospitalized for coronavirus - the highest level yet - including 134 in intensive care (up 12) and 49 on ventilators (up 4).

There were 90 new admissions to Iowa hospitals in the last 24-hour period.
Between 10 am Oct. 20 and 10 am Oct. 21, Iowa reported 1,276 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, pushing Iowa's total to 109,573.

Subtracting deaths (1,579) and "recoveries" (84,623), there are now 23,371 active cases - or one out of every 135 Iowans.
The 1,276 new cases were confirmed on 5,930 reported tests (up from 905,751 to 911,681). Dividing new cases by newly reported tests equals 21.5%.

The state's "positive case analysis" shows 647 new cases on 5,367 tests for rate of 12.1% - far too high, and many missing cases.
There are 77 counties where Gov. Reynolds loosened Iowa's limited coronavirus restrictions May 1, without an alternative safety plan.

Today, October 21, they had more new cases (633) and more deaths (17) reported in a single day than they had in total from March 8 to April 30.
Today, the 77 counties were up 633 new cases, for a total of 45,046 cases, and up 17 more deaths, for a total of 573 deaths.

As of April 30, they had 559 total cases and 11 total deaths.
Listed earlier in this thread, but deaths in the 77 counties were in Boone, Carroll, Clinton, Delaware, Guthrie, Mahaska (2), O'Brien (3), Palo Alto, Plymouth, Sac, Sioux (2), Story, and Winnebago.
