this is the challenge in using all cause deaths as a gauge of covid intensity in countries that locked down.
lockdowns did not stop covid to any great degree and may have made it worse.

and yet when we look at sweden, we see that all cause deaths are not high by historical standards nor compared to other nordic countries this year.
