・゚✧ an appreciation thread for Slytherin house ・゚✧
disclaimer: with this thread I’m not trying to say that slytherin is the best house or anything like that, I’m just trying to appreciate the house because it deserves it!!
Slytherin is one of the four houses at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The emblematic animal of the house is a snake and its colours are green and silver

Slytherin corresponds roughly with the element of water, due to serpents being commonly associated with the sea and lochs in western European mythology, as well as serpents being physically fluid and flexible animals.
The colours also correspond with waters around lakes and lochs often being green, and silver being often associated with grey rainwater.
The Slytherin common room is in the dungeons of Hogwarts Castle and underneath the Black Lake. The light in the common room is green. Once you enter a concealed stone door will slide aside leaving a rectangular hole in the wall leading to the Slytherin common room.

Slytherins tend to be ambitious, shrewd, cunning, strong leaders, resourceful and achievement-oriented. They also have a high sense of self-preservation. This means that they tend to hesitate before acting, so as to weigh all possible outcomes before deciding what to do
Slytherins are goal getters. They will not stop until they get what they want. They will just keep going. They don’t give up and reach for their dreams, even when they seem unrealistic. They work to make the unrealistic to realistic.
Slytherins are natural born leaders. Though each one in a different way, they all are very good leaders that know how to lead
They tend to take charge and possess strong leadership skills. They are often self-assured and confident of their own competence and can be very loyal. Another characteristic some Slytherins share is a tendency towards deep, unrequited love.
Slytherin has a well-known reputation for creating dark witches and wizards, but in fairer terms, there were many good former slytherins who opposed the use of the dark arts, as well as discrimination based on blood purity.
Some known Slytherins:
𝑳𝒆𝒕𝒂 𝑳𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆, she was quite different from her family with her kind personality, her career ambition without ruthlessness, and her self-sacrificing bravery in the face of Gellert Grindelawald.

𝑻𝒐𝒎 𝑹𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆, later known as 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝑽𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒕 or the 𝑫𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒅, was considered to have been the most powerful and dangerous dark wizard of all time.

𝑫𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒐 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒇𝒐𝒚, he became a death eater at age of 16 but was quickly disillusioned with the lifestyle. During the battle of Hogwarts he and his family ran away, fearing for their lives.

𝑵𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒇𝒐𝒚, after her husband was sent to Azkaban she took necessary measures to protect her family, including lying to Voldemort about Harry Potter being dead during the Battle of Hogwarts, an act which saved the Malfoys from serving time in Azkaban

The allegiance of 𝑺𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒖𝒔 𝑺𝒏𝒂𝒑𝒆 was found to ultimately be towards Dumbledore to the point of serving as a triple agent for the order of the phoenix.

𝑩𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒙 𝑳𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 was fanatically loyal to Lord Voldemort and was among the most dangerous and sadistic of his followers.
