how i perceive seoul by rm ;; a thread
#RMONOlogue.
disclaimer: i don't live in seoul, this is just my personal pov cuz i'm also from a big city (madrid)

also: i apoligize if i have some grammar mistakes, english isn't my first language.
so, let's start!
i'll go verse by verse, sometimes highlighting specific verses.
unlike namjoon, i'm still a teen and i've been living in the same city all my life.
however, everything changed for me two years ago but it seems like it all happened ages ago but i can't do anything to change the past, so i just have to get used to how's everything now.
for the next one, let's focus on the highlighted lines, especially the second one:
"That same ashy face of yours everyday"
something i hate a lot about big cites is the pollution.
you try to look at the horizon, but everything you see is that disgusting gray frame.
and it bothers me a lot cuz when i was younger there wasn't that much of gray dirtiness there (+)
(+) but, on a positive side.
thanks to the pandemic and the lockdown, we have clear skies here and you can see the mountains again.
i know he was, probably, talking about routines and how everything can become exhausting if you do the same things everyday, but i wanted to talk about that :')
let's now move on to the chorus:
i'm really emotionally attatched to this city. here are some places i enjoy visiting and where i like to stay. + i've never lived in another place.
however, sometimes i just want to get out of here. madrid has a lot of people living here, there's so much hustle (+)
(+) and especially during this pandemic, it has been awful for me.
there are so many restrictions, constantly changing and people don't respect them so they keep adding weeks to the lockdown.

but after all, i don't really want to leave.
and i ended up having a love-hate relationship with this city.

but, that's kinda how life works haha
i don't really have nothing special to highlight from this one
i just think he was talking about how people often seem to be warm and welcoming, but when you get to know them they can be really selfish and cold.
in this verse i'll focus on the line i highlighted:
"It's a nice place to live if you have money"
if you've ever heard of Madrid, you most likely imagine this part of the city (pics from pinterest, sorry).
this fancy and really nice places from the city center. (+)
(+) but the Madrid i know, the one i live in it's a bit different.
when you get a bit far away from the city center (literally just 10mins by metro) you'll be in areas where poorer people live and it may be a bit depressing. (+)
(+) rents are expensive af and there's a lot of people who has a lot of problems to pay them and others just can't.
i have nothing to add here, but can we please appreciate the wordplay between living and leaving?? 😳😳
namjoon sexc brain
i'm so sorry if this thread just looks like i'm complaining about my life or it's maybe a bit too cheesy, but i just wanted to share with y'all why this mixtape (and this song) is really special for me.
every song from mono has a special and personal meaning to me, but i wanted to share a little bit of what i feel when i listen it.
mono is my comfort zone and i listen to it when i'm really sad and i just want to cry a lot, so i don't listen to it that much.
but when i do it, it heals me a lot.
so i'd like to thank namjoon to make something this comforting.
just to finish, i want to say that i personally think the whole song is a comparative between the city of Seoul and people.
and he just wanted to share his perception.
