. @KamalaHarris arrives in Asheville, NC where she’ll make remarks at an early vote launch.

I’ll be on the stop with her today and will thread coverage under here!
A crowd of about 25 waits for @KamalaHarris and the program to start at University of North Carolina-Asheville, infront of a pretty scenic vista.

Folks are separated by social distance circles and x toe marks.
I talked (socially distant!) to Mary & Jeffrey Long, from a Cherokee reservation an hour away. They’re here to to talk to @KamalaHarris about HIV meds and PREP

This is the furthest they’ve been from home since the pandemic began and already cast their vote for dem ticket in NC
They both said on their reservation of about 16 people, they haven’t seen any dem canvassers or folks from Biden camp to reach out for their vote.

Still, Mary says she was so excited to vote for Harris, a WOC, and was on FB last night telling all her friends abt today’s event
Also spoke with Elinor from Asheville, who with a friend, has registered about 500 people to vote this cycle. She says it’s great to see Harris, a Black woman, in this positing. Didn’t think it would happen in her lifetime.

“Not at my age,” she said.
“I didn't even think that I would see President Obama in that position. That’s what I keep trying to tell the young people, is that we get some people of color in different position will be able to make a change, that they can see in their lifetime,” Elinor told me
