The situation in Nigeria has deeply impacted members of @BristolSUBME, both personally in their connections to Nigeria and in solidarity with resistance against violence forces.
We stand with the Nigerian youth in their fight against the oppressive forces of police brutality, and in sorrow for all the lives lost.
We also advocate for supporting ground level activists in their work on this, rather than advocating for Western intervention, which often serves as a further tool of oppression, and encourage you to seek out and amplify the voices of those oppressed and affected.
. @BristolSUBME are running an event on 3rd November at 6pm as a discussion platforming student voices affected and moderated by @folukeifejola.
The first half of the event will focus more on discussing what is happening to explain to those with less awareness/information on the situation. The second half will focus on what Nigerians feel should happen and what they want non-Nigerians to do. We encourage you to attend.
