(One gets the sense a lot of Dune fans see the Fremen as savages given to fanatical religious violence and all Paul ever did was be born into a set of circumstances that eventually put him close enough to the Fremen to set them off and loose them on the universe.)

*checking over my shoulder, leaning in, speaking even quieter* (The reason Paul’s not a “White Savior,” these fans seem to imply - the reason Herbert sees him as dangerous - has nothing to do with Paul’s politics or character, but rather just that the Fremen can’t be saved.)

(It’s arguable that this is the position the books themselves take - it’s a totally legitimate reading of "No more terrible disaster could befall your people than for them to fall into the hands of a hero.” But analyzing or teasing that apart isn’t *bad* or attacking the text!)
