Some of us were never ten year old white boys and so didn't get the early diagnosis, intervention, and support we deserved even though a we were displaying textbook symptoms, thanks 🙃 https://twitter.com/JakeWebber9/status/1318380998476746753
The tell is in the second tweet where he says "people diagnose themselves to be quirky."

When's the last time you heard a man described as quirky?

He means women.
Women are significantly less likely to get a childhood diagnosis for ADHD because we are held to higher behavioral standards and learn to mask our symptoms.

Many women HAVE to self - diagnose and then advocate for themselves to hell and back to get a Dx.
I got officially diagnosed in college, because my school refused to meet their obligations to me under the ADA unless I had a recent diagnosis for dyslexia. So I got the kind of screening that involves two days of testing.

It cost my family a month's income.
And even I didn't believe that diagnosis, because I'd internalized so much bullshit about ADHD and how the only "valid" presentation was how it looked in white boys - - behavior the rest of us couldn't get away with in a million years.
