The purchase include gourmet cupcakes, a cell phone bill, grocery purchases, lavish meals, lodging at the Trump International Hotel and thousands of dollars at a Washington jeweler
The spending went on for months after he announced his retirement in December, then months after he stepped down in March, and has continued through September in the form of a PAC that has raised no money
Rep. Duncan Hunter went to prison for using campaign funds for personal expenses. The day he resigned in January, Meadows spent $1000 at the Capitol Hill Club, after he announced he would no longer be campaigning.
Weirdly, some spending seems to line up with the campaign of his hand-picked successor, Lynda Bennett — including a $2300 “consulting” fee Meadows paid a field operative on primary day in June, six months after he said he would no longer campaign.
Meadows was criticized previously for tipping the scales in Lynda Bennett’s favor. His brother registered the domain for her campaign website last October, months before he announced, & her campaign, his, & his wife’s PAC are the only groups who pay his brother for web service
Bennett lost the primary. She finished $70,000 in debt, and still owes Meadows a $2000 contribution refund. In August, Meadows’ PAC gave $10,000 to a local pastor, whose church his wife & Bennett attended. The pastor retired last weekend. //

Meadows' campaign spent $2650 on "printed materials" at D.C. jeweler Ann Hand the day he left congress — of course, he had said he'd no longer campaign 3 months before then.

Ann Hand doesn't advertise stationery, but it does sell silk scarves. And these 👇 https://twitter.com/riotwomennn/status/1318883138467172353?s=20
