Some things to know about associate professor positions in Norway: we do not really do tenure track, so associate professor positions are the next step on the ladder after, well, technically getting a PhD degree. A PhD in history is technically the only formal requirement.
That said, competition can be tough, so a postdoc and a decent publication track record, plus teaching experience helps a lot. Scandinavian language competency is also good, but is not a requirement for this position, as long as you can demonstrate an interest in learning it.
Norwegian university job applications come with their own requirements and expectations, so do not hesitate to contact @DollyJorgensen or me to get some tips.
