THE DANGERS OF BINGING ! A THREAD ¡
intro: i’ve been dealing with a lot of binge eating this past month. I went from crying bcs someone did a longer fast than i did to eating 3k calories a day for what felt like forever 💔 reading on what binging does to ur body has caused me to be more considerate +
towards my body and to realize binging TO ME felt like it was worse than starving. there is NO way to describe the pain of binging and the loss of control in it. Which is why im making this thread. To show that binge eating is so SO fucking dangerous more than we think.
1. LOW ENERGY
binging makes you extremely lazy and sleepy. The excessive amount of food in ur body causes ur body to use an excessive amount of energy to digest it which leave u to 0 energy which might be the reason of weight gain. (Most of the times it’s water retention tho).
2. Skin effects 💔😔
When ur binges revolve around sweets AND when u go from restricting to binging it can cause u to develop dry skin and eventually bcs of the non nutritional foods it’ll cause some acne. (This also happens when ur body doesnt have enough nutrients.)
3. Bloating/discomfort
We all go through this one lol. When u overeat your tummy EXPANDS to get accustomed to the large amounts of food which causes ur stomach to push against other organs which creates the feeling of discomfort i believe.

It can also cause acid reflux, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, and gassiness. Going through these usually accompanies pain and stomach cramping
Can also cause sleep apnea and effects ur respiratory system! (Can’t breathe while asleep)
5. Desensitization? Idk
When u overeat ur pancreas go ballistic and releases far too many amounts of insulin which can cause insulin resistance which effects the way ur stomach and body hold onto fat (esp ur tummy) insulin resistance doesnt absorb nutrients too well either.
7. After the binge
Your system is filled with calories with most macronutrients coming from fat and sugar, ur hormones and energy levels r 📈📉📈📉 the overload of calories promotes fat storage AND inflammation with the added benefit of digestive discomfort ++
7. Consistent binging
The more u binge and overeat the more u effect ur metabolism and put off your hunger and fullness cues and the more it effects ur guts which directly effects ur neurological self.
But ur hunger and fullness cues being messed around will cause more overeati-

8. Neurological effects
It WILL cause depression, shame, guilt, and anxiety. Which is sometimes why some ppl have no motivation to stay in bed and binge even MORE junk. It will also effect ur social interactions bcs u feel fat and full and don’t necessarily wanna see anyone

10. Your body will get used to it and u’ll end up craving more junk. “Frequent binges could definitely cause you not only to gain weight, but influence how your body reacts to salt, sugar, and fat to make you crave more of those health-wrecking ingredients” ++
10. Binging has the same effects as drugs, it causes high highs and low lows. It effects ur brain’s “rewarding” system and makes u crave even more food that’s labelled as unhealthy and bad

your liver goes through all that u ate and does the natural “detoxification” for ur body, it directly affects it
12. DO NOT PAIR YOUR BINGES WITH ALCOHOL. It has a MUCH MORE HARMFUL effect ESPECIALLY TO YOUR LIVER. DO NOT PAIR YOUR BINGES WITH ALCOHOL ! ik we all r careless with our health but dont go from fasting to binging with food and alcohol i beg of u

IMPORTANT! THESE SYMPTOMS ARE MOSTLY BASED ON PPL WHO HAVE ANOREXIA/BULIMIA. Not a lot of researches have been conducted on BED, so the exact symptoms are not for sure and everyone will experience it differently. BUT, new studies are focusing more on BED and what causes it!
14. ps, i am VERY sorry that 99% of the photos and studies are mostly about women and girls. I wish i can find some that include all genders but i’m so sorry there were hardly any. EATING DISORDERS HAPPEN TO ANYONE NO MATTER AGE, GENDER, OR SEX! u r valid❤️
