Elections with an incumbent always ask us to consider the old Reagan line “are you better off now than you were four years ago?” For the life of me I can’t think of a person for whom the answer to that question would be “yes” (exempting the ghouls profiting off this POTUS)
If you ask someone this and they say yes, just reply “neat. Seen any good movies recently?” Or “If you can’t really remember what four years ago looked like, let’s go to a library together and look it up.”
My guess is that someone who says “yes” is thinking in the smallest possible terms. Well, my life hasn’t been ruined or I like that the Pres is saying things I agree with now. But how can your personal contentment overshadow the malignant deterioration of your surrounding world?
I was just thinking about where I was - shitty, 1br apt with no friends in DFW and going through an awful breakup - watching the 2016 returns. My personal and professional life has improved beyond measure. Literally every other thing is catastrophically worse.
Anyway the point is, if the answer is no, your life has not gotten better, and you didn’t vote at all in 2016, take another crack at it this time, bubs. You’ve got 13 days. That’s enough time for a whole ass missile crisis. #Vote
