Cut to 2016, Mayor Quevillon’s urban development plan explicitly stated the intention of taking unceded land. In a meeting, claims Indigenous community was brought to the area by missionaries.
2017, 2019 - Multiple housing developments initiated in Oka once again slated for unceded Kanienkehà:ka territory
June 2020, archeological digs initiated on Indigenous land.
And now, this fall in 2020, the Oka Major's plan to claim the Pines as 'protected municipal territory' initiated by the settler community with no Indigenous consultation. The same Pines that contain a site of great significance to the Mohawk community, trigger of the 1990 crisis.
