Today @UKLabour have tabled an Opposition Day debate on extending Free School Meals over the holidays.

Despite chairing the All-Party Parliamentary Group on School Food for over a decade and campaigning on this issue, I'm unfortunately not able to participate in the debate.
It's yet another important debate that I'm missing due to Jacob Rees-Mogg not allowing virtual participation in debates during the Covid-19 pandemic.
If I was able to speak in today's debate I would say:
▪️ Child hunger isn't a new Coronavirus problem.
▪️ Lack of holiday provision has been campaigned on for at least the last 7 yrs.
▪️ The Govt. know that food insecurity is a problem, why aren't they doing anything about it?
As furlough comes to an end and lockdown restrictions tighten, families need further support.

The Government must therefore commit to extending Free School Meal provision over the holidays.
