And, yes, it is very interesting that so much of the culture war stuff - on race and then gender - is extremely recent. Came from academia and then went online only 5 to 8 years ago. I was introduced to this stuff in 2014. Now it’s in Commons debates and US Presidential elections

My only disagreement with the thread is that I don’t think it’s true to say the right has gone nativist but I do think it is true to say that the centre-left has broadly given up and ceded to a hyper-liberal worldview. Ironically some critics of this are on the far left.
