PLEASE READ & SHARE. This is a #Beware on @nominonoreos aka "Angry Burger Arts" (ABA for short). I commissioned ABA earlier on this year for an NSFW piece and whilst they said there would be a 2 week to complete they made the piece quickly and I was pleased.
Fast forward to August/September I was keeping in touch with ABA and I was considering commissioning them once again and they were very keen on doing work for me. I agreed to pay for another NSFW piece for $60 which was paid on 29/08/2020.
I paid via PayPal as a friend since at this point I was regularly talking to ABA and trusted them, I would later regret this as it would not cover me for a refund of which I'll address further into this thread.
Once commissioned ABA did not set me a completion date or told me of any other work they are doing so I assumed within 2 weeks the piece would be done. I messaged ABA regularly for updates and they provided none which was strange because they would contact me regularly before.
On 14/09/2020 I finally got word back from ABA and they told me everything was on hold due to personal problems. I asked what was wrong and all I got was "Depression" which I understand and do not want to understate how serious depression is.
During this exchange I did ask for a refund since I was worried at this point, ABA was going quiet on me and there were no updates on the piece. I admit it was premature to ask but I felt like I needed to ask if it would be possible.
We discussed further and got into a mini argument of which I was respectful of their position but addressed my concerns. ABA said they would finish the piece at some point. Over a month later I have not heard back from them and now resorting to making this post.
I understand that depression can affect work, I have been dealing with depression over the last several years but I and many others have had to work through it because we can't stop working as others rely on us. If we had to stop working we would make sure to inform the proper...
...parties and hopefully come to an understanding. The problem here is that ABA did not notify me of anything from his depression or any updates of the commission and if they would have notified me I would have understood.
I messaged ABA yesterday and they have not responded to me so I am posting this. I blame myself for sending him the money as a friend and that is my loss. I hope this helps people with future commissions that you MUST have payment protection in place and the artist...
...should be more open to communication when working on a commission.
Please do not send harassment to ABA, I am posting this as it has been on my mind for the last few months and it has upset me greatly as I thought I could trust an artist I admire. With no communication from ABA I had to resort to this they are not replying to my messages...
... and if they do read this I ask them to get in touch with me and discuss this further. Any updates I will post on here in a future tweet. Until then thank you for your time and please consider sharing this if you feel inclined to do so.
