Because if I’m being really, really honest, it was the first time I felt like I had any real confirmation from the profession that I (or someone like me) could be a part of it.

It was the first time I genuinely thought this thing could be possible.

Before that letter, I was running on the fuel of “wouldn’t it be great if I could be...”

After I had received the letter, I started running on the fuel of “it’s only a matter of time until I become...”

That’s a whole different type of energy.

It’s about so much more than finances, although that was a huge burden for me too.

It’s about being given the ‘nod’ from the institution itself, which, for someone like me who often felt like an outsider, this moment was pivotal.

In short, if you haven’t yet got your scholarship application together - what are you waiting for ??
