slash struggled with the slide in cool cool mountain so i tipped him off about following the coins into the secret passage

unfortunately the penguin didn’t approve!

he died 10 times during the penguin race. he gave up and went to a different level

reuniting the baby penguin with its mom—i was not surprised to see big “protecc” energy. he accidentally dropped the baby near a ledge, freaked out, and struggled to pick it up again

he says mario 64 is too hard. “this game is mean. there is not one single level that is chill. the first level is a warzone!”

back to cool cool mountain. slash was in a better mood and ready to try again. i called him my “favorite streamer” to butter him up. he was pleased.

slash is learning that greedily chasing after 1-up mushrooms means death.

sound design appreciation: the cool arp when you pause and select “exit course“

(it makes me think of a bomberman 64 sound, even though this game came first)

(on that note, i am embarrassed as a musician to confess that it took me 15 years to notice that many of the level themes are the same song in different arrangements)

he is upset that mario can run up the vertical pillars in shifting sand land. he is even more upset that mario cannot run up a different wall with the same texture in shifting sand land.

he is very confused.

he is delighted that boos have taken over the courtyard.

“what!!!” after getting sucked into big boo’s haunt.

it really is a bizarre way to enter a level, isn’t it?
