Before some sanctimonious & preachy LeLi clown spouting 'ganga-jamuni tehzeeb' claims that, Sheep are either of 'Dravidian' origin

OR

Brought by their favorite Mughals from their Central Asian lands, perhaps as amorous partners for personal amusement and/or for 'Biryani.' (1/5)
Sorry. RgVeda mentions Sheep quite a few times. Wool was very well known.

Sheep are known by the word Avi, which has special significance in some suktas; also known as Ura.

There are many refs across Vedic texts; however, only a few Rgvedic refs provided in this thread.

The Purushasukta (10.90.10) mentions that goats and sheep were created out of the Supreme Being.

Ralph Griffith trans:

"From it were horses born, from it all cattle with two rows of teeth:
From it were generated kine, from it the goats and sheep were born."
