There can be a lot of difficult and negative things about having ADHD. We are even diagnosed based on our "negative" traits (i.e. symptoms), but instead of always focusing on those, here are some traits which I consider positive:

First thing is definitely hyperfocus. It's a double-edged sword, so it can be negative too, but when you hyperfocus on something you want to do and that you like, it can be so beautiful! The entire world stops existing and there's only you and your interest. 2/
Associative and unusually connected thinking. I can often see connections between things that others don't notice, even if I don't know how I got to them. My brain constantly absorbs information from all around and stores it in odd places. I think this also improves intuition. 3/
The last two combined - unusual connections and hyperfocus - are a great help with art or creative writing!
I can weave a story with well-developed themes or invent a whole world in a very short amount of time and I won't be able to tell you how I did it, but I can do it. 4/
Unending curiosity! A supernatural thirst for knowledge and skills.
Facts and knowledge are stimulating and therefore anything can be interesting to me. And if interested, ADHDers can also be very enthusiastic listeners (unless we get distracted 😅). 5/
Our curiosity and ever-changing interests mean that we have probably studied so many different things and had so many hobbies that we are a fountain of knowledge, know all sorts of random facts and trivia, and have many skills (even if many of them are partial). 6/
We can be excellent in a crisis or in chaotic situations. Personally, when I find myself in a situation like that or just in a very chaotic environment (e.g. a crowded train station) and I have to find my way through, it's the rare time my sensory issues diminish. 7/
Multitasking! ADHDers often focus better when we are doing more than one thing or switching between multiple tasks. I can jump around from one activity to another, doing a little bit of each until they are finished, and this is more effective than doing one thing at a time. 8/
Emotions. Yes, our emotions can be difficult to regulate but when we have positive emotions they can be incredibly intense and beautiful. That "emotional high" is one of my favourite things my body can produce. 9/
Hyperactive thoughts. Another one that can be both positive and negative. I used to hate these, but have learned to accept them. Sometimes it's just amazing feeling like you have a giant race track in your head. They are also great at generating ideas. 10/
There are probably more, but that's what I could think of for now, and these are the ones that I can see as positives in my life most often. Of course, most things I mentioned have their negative and difficult side as well, but that's not what this thread is about 😆 11/11
