You know, Colors of the Wind doesn't make any sense because after she said "You think the only people who are people/ Are the people who look and think like you" there was no need for further explanation.
Like, for a long time, my read of that song was, "Yes, we sometimes misunderstand people and we can overcome our differences" but like...they legit didn't think indigenous people were people. HOW DO YOU OVERCOME THAT. LIKE.
Civility is such a white scam.
As a kid, you watch that movie and Disney is like, "Yes, see, the real villain here was ignorance all along, and violence is not the answer" but like...
She had to gently take that caucasian man's hand and, using her HUMAN MOUTH, explain to him in terms he could understand that she was a person, and like...that is...so violent? Like????? The imposition is...SO VIOLENT.
They really thought that song was a serve, but like, at the point you're imagining a civil exchange in which one person's humanity is having to be explained to the other party, you have entered the realm of the absurd.
Everything that follows "you think the only people..." is an explanation of how their value systems are different as though it were just a matter of like, aesthetics! BUT IT IS NOT. He doesn't think you're people!
The melody do slap tho.
Truly, a parable of falling for white men.
That cartoon -is- a racial commentary, but not in the way they think, lmfao hdklsahldkashkdahs
