Hey, folks! It's #PronounsDay now in several time zones on this planet. Woooo! Time to celebrate! There's such a wide range of pronouns in the world, in so many different languages! What are the pronouns you use for yourself? 😊😊😊
Do you have a story to share of a time when someone recognized the importance of the pronouns you use, and did so in a great way? Want to chat about it? We're happy to hear from you! Today is all about respecting, sharing, and educating about personal pronouns. #PronounsDay
One of the cultural shifts we've noticed during the global pandemic is that many folks are getting more proactive with their pronouns online -- whether they're cis, trans, two-spirit, nonbinary, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, or have another gender identity.
This can get a little tricky! Sometimes pronouns change, sometimes people don't feel safe being out about their pronouns, and/or sometimes folks aren't up for Yet Another Convo about where their gender is at or how they're feeling their gender today.
At the same time, many ppl have felt able to introduce themselves in online chats & events using their pronouns. Many change their online nick or bio to include pronouns. This can be so great to see, as it reminds everyone that gender can't be assumed based on appearance!
We've also seen folks add their pronouns (sometimes in parenthesis) after their name in technology like Zoom, Skype, Whereby, and other services. Anywhere your name is editable, you could put your pronouns after your name, if you're comfy doing so.
