Pat Robertson’s eschatology would be funny if it weren’t for the fact that some in the congregation I lead hold the same views. 😩
So, because it isn’t funny, when our eschatology is predominately shaped by what happens in the United States it promotes geopolitical arrogance, reveals spiritual narcissism and demonstrates theological malpractice.
Be skeptical of any eschatology that determines that the end of the world is near when difficultly or suffering becomes proximate.
And finally, throughout salvation history, God has shown God’s purposes primarily through powerless, marginalized, obscure people and places.

Why would that change? The place of God’s most profound revelation & salvation comes in the places no one is even thinking about.
